What about Puppy Warts aka Papillomas?

In early 2025 I had a first in 10 years of breeding and that was a litter developed puppy warts. While it is a benign condition in dogs, it is highly contagious especially among puppies and a very very small percentage of Papillomas can turn cancerous. Canine Papillomavirus is not the same virus as Human Papillomavirus. My solution was to offer to take those puppies back, pay for their related vetting, and to replace their dog with an unrelated puppy from a future litter and to send all puppies home with an exam specifically for puppy warts and deworming. Going forward we have changed our protocols including no longer allowing home visits especially dog-to-dog meet and greets, using UVC sanitation lamp, as well as adding additional vetting to evaluate puppies. All puppies will leave with additional deworming to be continued in their new home.
The take-away?
  • LIFETIME breeder support
  • LIFETIME congenital and genetic guarantee
  • 4 year DCM guarantee
  • 2 year health guarantee
  • paid vetting bills for diagnosis and treatment of papillomas, if diagnosed within 10 days of being in their new home (note: puppies who are sent with a ground transport may have come in contact with these during their trip and will not have this additional guarantee)
